My Style Is Expression Of Emotions - Basketmouth

Aside being a talented comedian, Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, is a connoisseur of deluxe things. Recently, the award winning comedian told us about his diverse style.

What does style mean to Basketmouth?
IT’S a way of life; a reflection of my personality. If I want to appreciate what I see, I must wear what I love.

How can you describe your personal style?
I’ll describe my style as expression of my emotions and mood. I’ll say my style is diverse

Do you have a weakness for any lifestyle material?
Sadly, I have a weakness for everything, from cars, to clothes, to everything.

What kind of clothes are you mostly comfortable in?
I’m comfortable in all my clothes, which is why I bought them. I can’t be seen wearing what I’m not comfortable with.

Do you have a flair for any labels ?
I don’t wear names; I wear what I’m most comfortable in. It’s not about how expensive your suit is, it’s how you package yourself, by the way of combinations and carriage.

What about shoes?
I avoid wearing names like I said earlier, even with wristwatches; I wear names that are not the conventional kind.

But you wear Zara shoes, quite often…
Yea, Zara, they make fantastic shoes. However, if you look at it, Zara is not really a high street name.

How do you like to smell, I’m sure you won’t do a less name?
With perfume, I don’t have a choice but wear good labels. In fact, I do not use only one perfume. I mix fragrances, ranging from John Varvatos, Marc Jacobs Bang, Channel Blu, Verscace Eau Franchie and so on. But my favourite is Kenneth Cole Black, I’m sorry if it’s not that.

What about wristwatches?
When it comes to wristwatches, I don’t do fewer names, but I won’t mention brands names, if you don’t mind.

What does your ideal home look like?
A home, for me, is not the structure, location, the design or the furnitures. As for me, a perfect home is specifically centered on my wife and kids. So, when you see me and my family, you see my home taste. Trust me, my family is beautiful.

Why do you wear dreadlock?
I didn’t choose to wear dreadlocks, I was just playing with my hair, I did it for fun, washed it off and this was what came out. What I initially wanted was totally different. I didn’t like it, so, I took it off and found myself on looking like this. The style is called ‘Chronic’ in the Western world.

How do you keep your ‘Chronic’ clean and shiny?
I have someone who comes around to fix it every week

What kind of cars do you drive?
I’m a freak for cars, but I’m not the kind that mentions car brands and the model that I drive, etc. Anytime, you hear about me acquiring a new automobile, its 100%, a leak. I love cars and I drive most of the cars I love.

With your love for cars, do you have a dream car?
That’s a 2012 Rolls Royce Phantom.

What other deluxe items do you dream for?
I fancy a boat and a beach house.

Do you have a favourite food?
I have loads of favourite food but mainly Nigerian foods from banga soup and starch, owho soup and starch, oha soup, bitterleaf soup, yam and fish peppersoup, the list goes on.

Do you have a preffered hangout, a place Basketmouth can always be found?
I can’t tell you exactly where I can be found for obvious reasons. I hangout in places like; Ember Creek, Trends, Grasshoppers, in Festac and E Bar.
